Humboldt - Civil War Soldier GPS Coordinates: 42.739950 by -94.237966

This is a 36 foot monument of white bronze (zinc) in an impressive setting at the entrance to Union Cemetery. 167 soldiers are inscribed on the four sides and there are panels of Washington, Lincoln, Grant, and a common soldier. The white bronze has had restoration efforts in the past and looks good. There is a marker indicating that funds were left in an estate to maintain the monument. Union Cemetery is on the NW side of town. From Highway 3, take 19th Street north to the cemetery. The first photo was taken 7/31/10 -the others on 9/16/19.
