Marengo - Civil War Soldier in Cemetery GPS Coordinates: 41.788550 by -92.055900
This monument is about 18 feet high. It was dedicated May 30, 1907. The cemetery is located east of Marengo on Highway 6. Photo taken 10/4/19. There is also an undated postcard of the monument furnished by Danny Krock.
Marengo - Soldier Monument at Court House GPS Coordinates: 41.797966 by -92.070316
This very nice monument is in excellent condition. It has a 6 foot red granite base with a 6 foot bronze statue of a soldier at the courthouse. This monument is dedicated to soldiers of both the Civil War and the Spanish-American War. There is also a similar type statue of a WWI soldier on the other side of the courthouse lawn. The courthouse is located just south of the business district. Photos taken 10/4/19.
Victor - Civil War Monument GPS Coordinates: 41.727483 by -92.288016
This 6 foot granite monument is in the Victor Memorial Cemetery. It was dedicated in 1912. The cemetery is on the SE side of town and off V38 coming into town from the south. Take the south entrance to the cemetery and the monument is off to the right in the south section of the cemetery. Thank you to Steve Hanken for notification of this monument. Photo taken 10/4/2019.
