The Iowa Chapter was recently organized. It has developed this very fine web site showing a list of over 600 War of 1812 Veterans buried in Iowa.

The Memoirs and Diary of Private Jefferson Moses of the 93rd Illinois
Private Jefferson Moses, my Great Grandfather, was a soldier in the Illinois 93rd Infantry Regiment. After the War, he moved to Story County Iowa. This includes his diary, memoirs, photos and other documents.

Civil War Diary of Eugene Goodwin
Eugene Goodwin kept a diary while serving in the New York 99th Infantry Regiment. After the war, he was a teacher and later became a doctor in Baxter, Iowa. His Granddaughter, Louise McKlveen, formerly of Prairie City, Iowa, transcribed the diary.

Letters from an Iowa Soldier in the Civil War
These are wonderful letters written by Private Newton Scott of the Iowa 36th Infantry Regiment to Hannah Cone. Both were from Albia, Iowa. They married after the war and raised 9 children.

Iowa 22nd Infantry Regiment
This site has information about the Iowa 22nd which is noted for leading the assault at Vicksburg on May 22, 1864 and for being one of few Iowa regiments that fought in the east. There is information about an excellent book that has just been published, "Vanishing Footprints", written by the Adjutant of the Iowa 22nd, Samuel Pryce.
