Carlisle - Log Cabin Memorial for Charles F. Foulke - GPS Coordinates: 41.490183 by -93.491116
Corporal Foulke (1825-1911) was a member of Company D, Iowa 34th Infantry Regiment. While this is not a Civil War Monument, it is included since it is so unusual and it is the memorial or tombstone for a Civil War Veteran. The Carlisle Cemetery is on the south side of town - take S. Fifth Street to the cemetery. It is located approximately in the center of the cemetery. Photos taken 11/23/09.
Carlisle - Stained Glass Window at Methodist Church - GPS Coordinates: 41.498683 by -93.490216
This Civil War stained glass window is at the Carlisle Methodist Church at School and 4th Streets. It includes a list of soldiers showing regiment and company. On May 14, 2016 a rededication of the window was held - the third photo shows descendants of soldiers listed on the window and SUVCW members who conducted the ceremony. Thanks to Dennis Sasse for notification of this. Photos taken May 14, 2016.

There is a nice area honoring veterans including this 10 foot obelisk for the Civil War. The area includes graves of veterans and a silhouette of a modern era soldier. The cemetery is on the south edge of town on Highway 65/69. The cemetery is on both sides of the road – this monument is on the west side of the road. New Virginia - Veterans Monuments - GPS Coordinates: 41.177366 by -93.735633
There are two granite monuments in the New Virginia cemetery. Each is about 7 feet high and in very good condition. The second monument shown has about 50 names inscribed on each of its four sides. We believe this includes Civil War Veterans who served. The cemetery is located SW of town. It is on the road going east off exit 47 of I-35. Photos taken 6/27/17.
