Belmond - Civil War Monument - GPS Coordinates: 42.835100 by -93.601600
This monument is dedicated to unknown soldiers. It was erected in 1904. The GAR emblem is shown on the monument. It is in the cemetery on the southeast edge of Belmond south of the Eaton Corporation factory. Follow Luick's Lane south from Main Street for 1/2 mile. The monument is in the SW end of the cemetery by the flagpole and maintenance shed. Thank you to the Belmond Independent Newspaper for notification about the monument and the excellent photos. Eagle Grove - Civil War Monument - GPS Coordinates: 42.661366 by -93.929833
This striking pink granite monument is located in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. The monument is about 10 feet tall. The cemetery is west of town - take Broadway or County Road C54 west to the cemetery. Calvary Cemetery is along the road - Rose Hill sets south of Calvary. The monument is next to a nice Veterans monument with a list of Veterans from the area from all wars. Thank you to Bev and Mike Carr for finding and notification of the monument. Photo taken 8/17/10.
